The Moyur is the only freshwater river in
Khulna. However, this river has been dying due to illegal encroachments and
pollution discharges. The Moyur can be a potential source of
freshwater in Khulna. Thus, BUET Team started to work to save the river through
action research inputs since 2010. This rally was a part of awareness
building activities of ‘Save the Moyur Campaign’. the team believes that a larger
stakeholders’ platform may save the river for future water security in
urban and peri-urban Khulna.
